GirlPower~Voices of a Generation: Teen Feminist Play

I just wanted to share with you information about a play which just made it into the Fringe Festival. It's an off-broadway play happening for the next few days. It's a monologue play called GirlPower: Voices of a Generation where girls in the play range from young teen to young twenties write and perform their own material. The play is about empowering females, especially teenage girls.  It addresses many social issues such as media and the effects on females and all of the good and bad that comes with becoming a young woman. 

Since then the play has became so popular it has made it into the Fringe Festival (similar to the Tribeca Film Festival, but for plays). If the show is a huge success, the actresses will get more subsequent, bigger roles as a result.  What better way to be entertained than to do it while helping these aspiring actresses?  If you're not interested, but know of someone who might be please spread the word.  It's really worth while.    So here are the details:   Performances will take place at:  The Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center   107 Suffolk St .   New York , NY 10002   Showtimes:             Sunday 8/23 at 5:00pm             Monday 8/24 at 5:00pm   Tickets: $15 which can be purchased at the door, but if you'd like you can visit www.FringeNYC.org for tickets and venue info.   Actual show description: Bold, smart, fresh.  For teens, by teens.  GirlPower: Voices of a Generation is an empowering, ensemble- driven collection of words written and performed by teenagers, struggling with issues they face growing up in today's world.  Through monologues and spoken word, the young women share their perspectives on love, relationships, the future, creating social change and finding power through theatre.   P.S.  guys found it funny too!
