Volunteer Opportunity: Communications Research Volunteer

SAFER helped us tremendously and continues to help us in trying to create the CUNY-wide sexual assault policy for all 450,000 students.

Sincerely,

Job Title: Communications Research Volunteer

Organization: SAFER - Students Active For Ending Rape

Description: Students Active for Ending Rape (SAFER) is currently preparing for a year of exciting new projects. We are in the process of developing a strategic press plan that will expand our reach by alerting more students of our services and putting college sexual assault back on the national stage. In order to do this, we need a dedicated volunteer to help out with some of the nuts and bolts of the operation. The Communications Research Volunteer will work with the Communications Coordinator to develop and update databases of national and regional organizations and student groups who might be interested in SAFER's work. S/he will also play a role in crafting a strategic press plan, helping the Communications team identify appropriate contacts. While much of this work can be done at a personal computer, we also want to be able to meet with the volunteer for in-person brainstorming so being located in New York City is important. The volunteer will be able to create their own work schedule, but the project must be completed by the end of August. Future volunteer opportunities are likely to follow.

If interested, please contact Christine Borges at christine@safercampus.org as soon as possible.

Please send a resume and message telling us about yourself: why you're interested in SAFER and what your availability is like, as well as what relevant experience you bring to the table. *** SAFER provides organizing training and support to college and university students working to improve their school's sexual assault prevention and response policies. SAFER empowers student activists to rally the community and push school administrations to take action.
